Farrell boys go fishing

One day Caroline told me to ask JJ what he drew at school that day. When I did, he produced a picture of him and I fishing together. This was a loaded picture to me, because I've always wanted to be a daddy that took his kids/boys fishing, camping, etc, but I had not done it yet. So, it obviously was something JJ was thinking and wishing for. Well, the next couple of days he asked me several times when I would take him fishing. My dilemma was that I have no fishing gear and I had only been a couple of times myself, so I honestly didn't really know what to do. Luckily, my buddy Ben is a firefighter in Portsmouth and we were able to find a day off together to take JJ. Thanks Ben for teaching me the basics.

Here is the little fisherman in his seat next to the expert fisherman/teacher, Ben.

And this is JJ's first fish! Boy, was he excited. We went to a neighborhood park nearby that our kids have come to call "the duck park". A little park by a large pond with lots of duck, geese, turtles, and what do you know....a bunch of little fish. If you ask JJ, they were all big ones.

Ben was kind enough to let JJ real in the bigger ones too.
