Justice for Buddy--Maybe

The animal control officer handling our case came by last night with some good news that should give our murdered dog some justice. She (A.C. officer) interviewed the pitbulls' owner's next door neighbor and she is willing to testify that the two pits where in the owner's back yard the day before the attacks. The officer also informed us that there were 4 calls that night; ours (our neighbor 2 doors down called) was #1, #2 was a dog owner on the street behind us who found his dog dead in his back yard, #3 was from the owner of another dog attacked (he is not willing to testify bc he is a Christian Scientist who feels that dogs should not ever be euthenized under any circumstances-according to the A.C. officer), and #4 was the owner of a fourth dog that witnessed through a window of her home, her dog being cornered with a pit on either side getting ready to pounce! So, the City of Va Beach is taking the owner of the pits to court on Feb 25th and Animal Control has subpeonaed 12 people! Oh, yeah....the pitbulls' owner already has a charge pending for "dog at large". What we've been told, is that if found guilty, the owner will be responsible for vet bills and possibly replacing the lost pets. I don't wish ill will on people, but we are very hopefull that this lying jerk is at least held accountable!

By the way, thank you to those who have offered words of sympathy. I for one (josh speaking here) never realized how much Buddy was a member of our family until this fateful incident occured last week.

Glad to hear it! Keep us posted with how it goes! That's crazy how many calls were made that day/night! Those dogs are vicious!
