Last week, I took Kelsy and JJ to Kids Cove (a huge playground at one of our local city parks Mt. Trashmore-a covered landfill) to give Caroline some rest without the noisy kids. It was a pretty cold and windy day, so we were almost alone. I think there were actually only two other parents there with a total of five kids including our two. So a little boy, Jeffrey, starts chasing JJ around trying to introduce himself and play with him, but JJ just wanted to run...Kelsy is really our more social child. Well, Jeffrey got discouraged and went to his mom, Ann, for help. She told Jeffrey to offer him some snacks to divert his attention from running in aimless circles. What do you know? it worked! So, we met Ann, Jeffrey(4) and Nicholas (1.5) and spent about an hour playing at Kid's Cove together, running up the mountain, and rolling back down. Ann was very friendly and her kids were very willing to make new friends and share their snacks. She told me about a local farm in Va Beach that has a pumpkin patch and play area, so she and I exchanged numbers with plans to meet there later. So here's the family all together at Taylor Farms.
There, they
offer a free hayride to the pumpkin patch and sell pumpkins ranging from$1-$7.If you buy a pumpkin, that gives you free entrance into the play area, which is huge. JJ and Kelsy were pleased with their spoils.
The play area includes all kinds of structures to play on. (Is it any surprise that JJ found the train?)
It even includes pony rides, a jump house, and a petting zoo. The kids loved every part of it. JJ was especially thrilled to play on the several toy and real tractors, as well as to be pulled by one on the hay ride. Both kids really liked the petting area where they got to feed grass to the donkeys.
JJ and Jeffrey had fun playing together.
The Farrell boys all like to climb!
Luckily we met Ann and her boys when we did, as this was the last weekend the pumpkin patch will be open for the season. Taylor farms also has strawberry and blueberry picking, so we will return when the pickin' is ripe!

You really do give your children marvelous opportunities! They have a good mommy and daddy.
Thank you for sharing.
love, mom
how COOL! And what wonderful adventures. Those kiddos sure are lucky to have such an active and attentive Daddy! :) What a blessing to Caroline, too.
