If I could, I would be giving you a book that says it well in, "In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms."
The stay at-home-mom can't really be compensated for her work as illustrated by the pay chart. I actually have an uncle whose 1st wife tried to sue him for compensation YEArs ago in Calif.
Because there is no way to compensate for such valuable work, Uncle Sam (with the help of such entities as the United nations and the convention on the rights of the child treaty) wants to become the benevolent leader of a nanny state where lots of gov't run institutions (gov't run schools, daycare, etc) take care of our children.
