For those who are unaware, our family had a bit of a scare last week. Let me back up a little...
JJ is getting excited about sharing a room with Petey. So, lately he's been asking if Petey can come upstairs to play with him. No problem especially since Petey isn't crawling...well, about 2 weeks ago Petey became mobile!!!
Last Wednesday, JJ asked for Petey to come upstairs so Petey and I went up to JJ's room to play. I needed to run downstairs a moment. I told JJ to keep the door closed so Petey will stay in the room.
First...bad move by mom. What was I thinking asking a 4 year old to keep the door closed and watch his baby brother.
Second...Petey is crawling a little faster than I thought.
Josh and I were downstairs and heard a few thuds then a huge cry! Yep...you guessed it! Petey took a great fall down the staircase...all the way down! Josh quickly went into paramedic mode and stripped Petey down to his diaper checking over every inch of him. He looked okay...inconsolable but okay. We kept an eye on him for a few minutes. Bumps started forming on each side of his head. Petey was alert but we decided to have him checked out.
We went to Bayside Hospital where they did a CT scan on Petey. The results...Petey has two skull fractures and swelling to go with them. They immediately transported him to CHKD for further work ups. After a full skeletal x-ray and an overnight stay, the diagnoses...only the two fractures and no brain damage. I guess the skull did its job!
We are home and Petey is almost back to being our happy baby. A constant eye must be on him since the slightest bonk of the head could result in more damage. We have an appointment in 3 months at CHKD to make sure the fractures have healed properly...the fractures don't seem to be bothering him too much but the 5 teeth that are coming through at the same time are!

5 teeth! ouch!
Oh wow!! How scary!! Glad though that he is ok and nothing more serious was wrong!!! And 5 teeth is alot!! Hopefully they all come in soon:)
I'm so happy that his head did what it needed to and nothing worse happened to him. It's funny that the teething is giving him more grief than the skull facture!
